Tekken Nation's Review of Tekken 6 !
Lasting Appeal
Important question is; how long will I keep playing this game before I get bored? Hmm it depends really on who you know. If you have a couple of close friends that love Tekken and who can come round and play, then this could last you a life time.
If you don’t then you really are in trouble! Online mode is not going to extend the games life span, unless there’s a patch. You’ll also get the feeling that the offline modes feel rushed and dated. It doesn’t help that I’m too familiar with the majority of the characters move sets, or that Namco couldn’t be bothered to give the characters more new clothes and winning poses. There is also no worthy unlockables in Tekken 6 I’m afraid. All the characters are there from the start and the endings are nothing short of abysmal. There are no training modes like SF4 so it’s going to be hard to improve yourself, unless you do a lot of research on the net. You really could end up getting bored of this game within a week, despite the large roster.
Conclusion
Tekken 6 is not an awful game; it has a lot of flaws, but still has its fun moments. How could I describe this game to you? It feels like a James Bond Film without James Bond, or a Liverpool FC without Gerrard and Torres. There’s the feel that something big is missing from the game and that it’s unfinished. I feel this game did the same mistake Midway did when they created MK vs DC; focused too hard on bringing new gamers rather than listening to its own fans.
You read my opinion, it’s now up to you to decide; whether you want to buy it or not.
