The Warrior's Encyclopedia- Fighting Games QnA

Postby Eternal Blaze on Sat Dec 25, 2010 1:32 pm

I recall seeing a topic like this before the zafina bug hit, thought it'd be useful to have it around again.

basically, ask a FG question, and I (or anyone else here) will do our best to answer it.

Yeees... I guess Zafina crushed my remembrances for this thread. A useful thread is useful.

I'd prefer people ask me something about Dissidia Final Fantasy, Tatsunoko vs Capcom and / or Super Smash Bros as I feel like I know a bit more than some basics compared to other people who know lots of stuff from other games. [adorable]

So to kick things off...

[BlazBlue: Continuum Shift]
How to beat Hazama at Arcade with Ragna? <_<
This guy felt so overpowered against a rookie like me. And a first one to suggest a lower difficulty level gets punched, I have my self-respect too. The difficulty was the default Normal, I guess.

iirc hazama has a problem with DP's (or atleast in score attack he did when i beat him) so just spam ID into combos

623C>236C>delay 236C>d.5B>6A>jc>j.C>jc>j.C>j.214C>d.6D>j.D>jc>j.C>j.214C>d.5D>623D>236C>214D

i know a little about a lot of games but the only games i know enough about to mention are
-Tekken5.0-BR
-Blazblue series
-SF4, SSF4

@EB

CPU Hazama falls for dumb Patterns easily, granted I havent played VS Hazama w/Ragna in Arcade mode but I'd assume you can just Hell's Fang from far away and random DPs upclose would do the trick.
Tofma's answer is more specific with Combo follow-ups after the DP so yeah that should do it. If not, I'll try to do it when I have access to a PS3 (after new year's) and let you know.

LOL Strip fighter Is a Doujin PC fighter thats pretty much a sleazy Spin-off of SF. the latest one is called Super Strip Fighter 4 (i know), you might've passed some vids of it with a Female nude Hakan character and an old Abel model (where he was originally a female) thats a character in it as well. its very Clunky and retarded but its alot of fun xD
I'd link to vids of it but there's uhmm..too many jiggles for them to be TN-safe.

-From my experience out-turtling a turtle with Lee is the best thing to do with Lee as he's a pretty good turtle himself, so mainly do some short safe Strings pokes at max range to bait some CH 223's is your best option eg: 4. f2(1). 1,2. d/b+3,b1 etc), a few lows would help too, and maybe its just me but an occasional u/f+3 works well too.
Idk if that helps coz afaik you're a much better Lee player than I am >__>"

FRKZ Bang:
Bang becomes Super-Saiyan basically.
His movement becomes 8 way Dashes, you can cancel normals into dashes and you can also cancel dashes into Normals/throws (aside a very few exceptions).in this mode you're unable to block -obviously- coz of the dashes (but you can barrier block).
The dashes go through the opponent and you can dash up to 3 times mid-air which can create some insane mixups (or lame runaways lol)
Oh, there's also teh Awesome BANG BANG BANG theme song, cant forget that :p

Mak corner combos:
Not too sure about the best corner combo but afaik all of them are pretty much combo (c.lp s.mp for example)xx Ex hayate> f.lk (reset)/lp fuikage/lp Hayate (character Specific)
I'll get back to you on that with the bestest corner combo.
Edit: apparently its mp/mk/c.mp/hp xx EX hayate juggle f.lk, will work on ALMOST all the cast (except blanka). so yeah pretty much what I posted.
there's also anti air tsurugi lk/mk, fuki, jump cancel ex tsurugi, but thats too situational if you ask me and doubt that its gonna be very useful.

hmm...good enough even though you didnt mention some frkz bang stuff like how drives grant a free dash on hit and block (but thats not so important anyway) and just how insane his mixup gets (but i guess thats because its so obvious...instant overhead crossups FTW)

Well, if you know what changes Jecht has got in Dissidia Duodecim Prologus compared to the original, then I'll be your guest and ask for them. :P

And...

Street Fighter 4. Gouken. Shin Shoryuken or Denjin Hadouken? And why?

hmm I havent really followed DD, but if they did show some Jecht footage I'll try to watch it tomorrow and see if I spot any changes, i only used him and Kuja in Dissidia :D

Gouken:
U1:
-is the go to Ultra from what I know
-it does more damage
-a viable reversal
-it makes gouken very scary in the corner (eg: medium/ex fireballs as AA to U1 if they try to get out. anything> palm> ex hado>U1)
-almost all the ways to combo into U2 work with U1, just a bit harder

U2:
-mainly used in very few matchups
-against 4-5 characters full-charged denjin setups are inescapable and they have to block it or eat it.
-many characters have ways around it so you cant throw it randomly ala Sonic Hurricane.
-Denjin>(wallbounce)>mp.palm xx Super does 900 something stun so on some characters its an instant stun.
-does alot less damage than Shin-Sho so its comeback potential is lower
-easier to combo into, and possible to combo after (eg: Ex palm>U2, midscreen and in corner, AA hp palm>u2, kongo>fadc>U2, backthrow>expalm>u2, lp palm>u2 somewhat close to the corner etc) those setups are additional to the known u1 setups (j.Mp>U*, backthrow>U*, palm>ex hado>U* etc) but the damage of the whole combo is around the same as the damage you get U1, only difference is you get more stun from U2 combos.

I have a close friend that mains Gouken, and in all of my S/SF4 career I've only seen him use U2 in casuals but never in Serious matches.

Wait a minute, we share a main?

So far I've only seen Jecht's new aerial HP attack which has a quick start up, similiar to Zidane's Free Energy- PFFFF-YESSSSS.

And thanks, I've found Denjin Hadouken to be a bit more cool because I have a bad habit of pulling off an Ultra every round and it is more link-able. :S

Also edited the title of the thread, Warriror's sounded wrong. =P

@Tofma:
GG= normal normal special normal normal normal special normal normal special normal finisher
BB= normal normal laucher normal normal normal normal special finisher
AH= Normal normal launcher normal normal normal launcher normal normal special finisher

so in a way its somewhere in the middle, in general the feel/rhythm of the combos is alot like Millia's combos (AD mid combos is very similar to Homing Cancels, at least timing and look-wise), in other words, you're in the air alot, aside from a few characters. However unlike GG where many combos revolve around looping/repeating a certain move most AH's cast dont repeat the same move in a combo.

here's a list of a few character's with veeery slight similarities combo rhythm/feel-wise:
Fiona= Ragna
Elsa= Ky
Yoriko=Order Sol
Akane= Chipp
Clarice= Slayer
Eko= A.B.A
Kamui= Jin
Catherine= Hakumen
Kira= Potemkin
Konoha= Bang
Mei-Fang= Jam
Scharlachrot= Axl
Maori= Arakune in Curse mode
Leiss= Eddie
Nazuna= Rachel
Petra= Mu
Zenia= Balrog >_>

@Muggy:
lmao thanks, I didnt notice it was Warriror XD

hmm that new move sounds pretty damn sweet, i'll have to check the vid asap.

Yeah thats pretty much the only reason to use Denjin, it looks more awesome =P

well i meant more as in execution wise but that kinda helps too

for example in GG when youre doing something like say...order sol's
-fafnir>d.2s>5h>iad>j.p>something
not only you cant you just half-mash the airdash (no buffer window so pressing ff too early gives you nothing) but you have to do it the exact moment sol leaves the ground. also the j.p must be timed too

whereas in bb lets say im doing bang's
-otg 623b>d.5b>2b>jc>j.b
not only is there plenty of time for the dash 5b, but theres also the buffer window that gives you the dash even if you do it early. also with j.b you can kinda wait for a moment before doing it

Yeah in AH there's pretty much 0 buffer window, it reads the input as it is, eg: with Clarice's j.236C xx 236236E you have to input 3 236's and the 2 for the super have to be to be after the 236C hits, its really weird, in that sense its alot closer to GG, I'd say even a tad tighter than that.
